A standout seedling, grown from seed collected from a witch’s broom, was selected by Dr. William Hoch in Wisconsin for its uniquely compact growth habit and excellent branch structure that forms a remarkably symmetrical, upright oval tree. During more than 20 years of close observation, neither flowers or seeds have appeared on the parent tree.
