Reliable, highly adaptable landscape conifer with high tolerance of heat, cold, drought and poor soils including those high in salt. Columnar in youth, its symmetrical, narrow form and dense foliage make it a good accent plant or visual screen when planted in rows or groups. A native of higher elevations of the Balkan Peninsula and southern Italy, it is also known as P. leucodermis.
