Jim Donohoe
New Plant Development Specialist
Jim serves as the New Plant Development Specialist, leading breeding, propagation, and long-term evaluation of ornamental trees. With more than 25 years of experience in the nursery and landscape industry, he blends practical fieldwork with disciplined selection to develop resilient, reliable cultivars for modern landscapes. A graduate of Longwood Gardens and Williamson College of the Trades, Jim is recognized for his careful observational work and hands-on approach to tree improvement.
Outside of work, he’s an Appalachian Trail thru-hiker who still cherishes his time in the mountains. Whether he’s backpacking, traveling with his fiancée, or carving greenwood spoons as a creative way to unwind, you can find him in the outdoors.
